Collection: For Pets suffering from kidney disease

For dogs suffering from kidney disease

Causes: Chronic - Unknown

Acute: Pre-Renal (no direct damage to the kidneys); Renal (direct damage to the kidneys), and Post Renal (blockage of urine outflow)

Symptoms: Increased thirst and urination, Anemia, Lethargy

Organs affected: Kidneys

Tests to diagnose: Pathology - Urea and BUN will be increased (which poisons the blood)

Recommended raw food balance: Low phosphorous diet, "cooling" meats (such as turkey, chicken, etc).  Kibble is heat-processed with artificial flavours, dies, and preservatives, which are all toxins that the kidneys need to eliminate so a raw diet is recommended.

Additional supplements: Fish Oil (Omega-3), CoEnzyme Q10 (CoQ10), Darg Green leafy vegetables (they lower nitrogen which therefore lowers the BUN).  Possible Phosphate binder.
